Dear Colleagues,
We have been planning for several social events this term, but Covid continues to challenge a return to in-person socializing. Given this, we have arranged several open-topic Zoom meet-ups to give us an opportunity to connect and discuss issues affecting our work. We had hoped to host a couple of lunches (on TUFA!) at the Ceilie along with a similar in-person meeting in Durham, but are holding off for now given the very high community risk index. We may go ahead with something in-person later in the term if things improve. Another outdoor Chilly Chili Social is a possibility we are exploring — it was a lot of fun last time and this fall term may be less brisk than last year! Special thanks to TUFA’s Executive Assistant, Nancy Carter, for her resilience in helping us plan and unplan activities as the pandemic dictates.
Zoom meet-up (Durham), Wednesday, October 19, 11 am.
Durham-based members will receive a Zoom link shortly
Zoom meet-up (All member), Thursday, November 3, 7 pm.
Zoom meet-up (All member), Thursday, December 1, 7 pm.
Members have been sent an email with the Zoom link, if you are missing the link, please contact the TUFA office and we will resend the information.
Please note that all members should receive from TUFA an anonymous survey early next week relating to the University’s current health and safety measures around Covid. We want to ensure that we have a clear understanding of our members’ views about Covid measures (masking, distancing, vaccinations, remote delivery, etc.) ahead of the return from fall reading break. Your feedback will help us determine if we need to pressure the administration AGAIN and, if we do, where your preferences and concerns lie.
In Solidarity,
Moira and Marcus
