Please be advised of the following:
1. CAUT Organizing for Equity Conference – February 21/22 – Ottawa
Our national affiliate’s Equity conference provides a great opportunity to sharpen political tools and strengthen change-making skills. It’s also a chance to meet peers from across Canada and build networks of contact and support. The conference is open to all members of the academic community, equity-identified and allies, to explore what is being done, and what more can be done, to advance equity for academic staff. TUFA will support the attendance of several members and so please contact the TUFA office if you are interested in attending.
2. ReFrame Film Festival – January 23-26 – Downtown Peterborough
TUFA has long been a proud sponsor of ReFrame and, at least, two of our members will have their work screened (Sally Chivers-Storey, “Magic Number” and Karleen Pendleton Jiménez, “Dancing on a Rainbow”) at this year’s Festival. If you enjoy documentary film, you’ll certainly want to check out this year’s offering. Tickets are available online, or at the following locations: The GreenUP Store (378 Aylmer St. N., Peterborough), Watson & Lou (383 Water St., Peterborough), or Happenstance Books and Yarn (44 Queen St., Lakefield).

We have posted on our Equity Page an update to TUFA’s Queer Research list that we began compiling in conjunction with “Queering the Academy” activities in 2018.
6. Trent’s United Way Campaign passes $125,000 target.
Trent’s United Way campaign is coming to a close and, thanks to the generosity of TUFA members, we have once again surpassed our target. Trent is now the largest workplace sponsor of the Peterborough United Way and accounts for approximately 8% of the funds that will be distributed to partner agencies this year. If you’ve been meaning to sign-up for payroll deduction, or make a direct contribution, let us know – it’s never too late to help!
